Framing
It’s recommended that pastel paintings be framed to gallery standard to preserve your investment. The frames are made in Australia using quality Australian timber with a matt & spacer& non-reflective glass, this keeps your portrait safe from fading or discoloration & the painting can be seen without reflection from room lights or window light.

All you need to know to start the process of commissioning a fine art portrait.
With all my portraits they are hand drawn, I believe by drawing I capture the very essence & quirkiness of your pet, I do not trace from a photo.
When receiving a portrait request, I prefer to have a conversation with clients to work out what will best suit your requirements, budget, photos to send, the pet’s personality & the date portrait is required by. If it is for a special occasion, I will always work in with your time frame if possible. If you are contemplating a portrait as a gift or for Christmas, I suggest you give me early notice as it takes 6 to 8 weeks rather than have you be disappointed.
My process is to talk to you, then send you 1st proof drawing for your approval. Next step is the painting, I will provide you with progress photos then the final proof for you to approve. When we are both totally happy with the portrait I will deliver or send.
Love to talk to you regarding a portrait of your fur baby, or favourite person, phone 0418 784 470 Dianne
Size & Placement
Size of painting & placement in your home is a consideration. (I will discuss your options & what I feel would most likely suit your requirements.
Portrait Composition
Face only, full body, a favourite pose or spot in the garden or a special toy they always have with them. (I have a printout Tips to photograph your pet)
Tribute Pet Portraits
If your pet has passed away, please give me a call (0418 784 470), I will talk to you to find out all about your pet, their personality, characteristics & quirky little traits, you can send me any photos as they will all help me paint a beautiful forever portrait.
I like to allow 6 to 8 weeks depending on the size of the painting, the detail & framing. Larger paintings with more pets or people will take longer.
PASTEL & PENCIL
Gives a softer look which will require framing under glass. I use pastel pencils & soft pastels together painted on quality acid free, archival premium paper. Your finished painting is sprayed with fixative to preserve the quality.
OIL PORTRAITS
Gives a richness of colour a glossier finish. The painting takes a longer time to dry before the final protecting varnish can be applied. (It is definitely worth the wait- I have given clients the painting when they needed it as a gift & then popped in later to give it a final varnish.)
ACRYLIC PORTRAITS
The colours are vibrant has a more matt finish depending on the size of the painting. I use quality Atelier Interactive Acrylic paints. The painting will be sprayed with fixative for protection.
CANVAS
Is a premium Acid Free 380 gsm double thick canvas with 38 mm deep fame that offers a contemporary clean edge look with no future framing is required
FRAMING
Oil & Acrylic canvas can be framed, if framing I recommend you go with a flat edge canvas. There is also a deep edge frame that looks great & modern unframed. This can also be framed with a shadow frame which looks contemporary. If you require a frame, I will organize a price from my wholesale framer.
These decisions will help with me producing a portrait that is exactly what you want.
